We continued our winter / snow theme with this week's E Time, but students were given free choice to follow their passion in how they wanted to work. Students could choose between research on a "Snowflake Scientist's" website, activities on an interactive 3D snowflake website, creating snowflake designs with art materials or shapes and measuring with marshmallows. We have some snowflake design experts in here. It was great to see them teaching one another. (Just look at how they are gathered around Nate!) It made cleaning up all that blue glitter totally worth it!

Follow Your Passion at E Time!
We continued our winter / snow theme with this week's E Time, but students were given free choice to follow their passion in how they wanted to work. Handwriting (Without Tears!)
We are loving our new handwriting program Handwriting Without Tears. It is full of snappy songs and clever stories to remind us the correct way to form the letters. Just ask your child about the letter "m" and the garbage or the Hershey kiss. Have them demonstrate for you! Check out the concentration on these faces! Now to get this beautiful handwriting in our practice books to transfer over to ALL of our everyday writing .... (sigh!)

First E Time!
We had our first E Time today. We learned that the "E" stands for enrichment. We'll use our first couple of weeks of E Time to do some enrichment activities related to winter and snow. We brainstormed things we would like to know more about today. In the coming weeks, we will break out into groups centered around a specific interest. This week we "warmed up" by creating a snow person glyph. We each answered four questions related to snow. Then, based on our answers, we got certain things to "decorate" our snow person. Next, we'll analyze the snow people to create some data charts. Check them out!
